History
Mississippi Southern Second Jurisdiction is the 3rd Jurisdiction organized in the state of Mississippi by the Church of God in Christ, Inc. It was organized in 1983 during the 1st Annual Jurisdictional Holy Convocation. It is comprised of approximately 90 congregations and missions. Local churches are located in many cities and towns in Southern Mississippi from the Gulf Coast to the Capitol.Leadership
The jurisdiction is now under the leadership of Bishop Albert Vernon Jordan. The Jurisdictional Bishop serves the the episcopal head of the jurisdiction to provide oversight and care for the local churches and all credential holders under his charge. He serves on behalf of the Church of God in Christ, Inc. with World Headquarters in Memphis, Tennessee. Bishop Jordan was appointed to the Office of the Jurisdictional Bishop on Friday, September 18, 1992. Under his leadership, the jurisdiction was able to complete the McDowell-Nance Convention Center project. In order to adequately serve the female credential holders, the National Church has established a Department of Women which is responsible for many of the auxiliaries which can be organized in the local church. Mother Mary E. Eaton is the Jurisdictional Supervisor of the Department of Women.
